Needle felt textile consists of a three dimensional filter structure. The filtering properties can be found at the surface and in the deepness. The multitude of pores conditioned by the three-dimensional structure of these filtration media offers a high solid loading effect together with high flow rates. The outside surface of the needle felt is deseamed or calandered, i.e. treated with heat in order to avoid fibre shedding into the filtrate.

The indicated pore size from 1 – 200 micron cannot be measured exactely, so filtering with multifilament needle felt textile is always a nominal filtrationThe nominal filter fineness describes the size of those particles, which should be seperated by a filter medium. ´Nominal´means, that only a certain rate of these particles is seperated, e.g. 70%. A filter medium with an absolut filter fineness would hold back 100% of the particles intended to be seperated..

The needle felts are available on rolls and usually habe a width of 59 cm.
