Development of the first flexible screen bags
As an alternative to screens made of metal wire, Bernd Schwegmann became aware of a plastic mesh that was actually intended for screen printing. This mesh proved to have a similar mesh strength to metal wire mesh, but was cheaper and much easier to make up. The first screen bags were sewn by Ursula Schwegmann, wife of the company founder, on the sewing machine in her living room at home. The advantages were the flexibility of shape, size and interchangeability, which could be adapted to the customer's wishes.
